Had a bloke come here yesterday "I want cheap mower, I have catcher" I had a look and it was a Rover catcher and I didn't have any Rover mowers here because I was low on Rover catchers but I had buckets of Masport catchers so I had been setting up Masport mowers to suit with Briggs on them, just to get rid of them because I want to concentrate on the Victas. Always people looking for cheap mowers and don't want a 2 stroke because they have to mix the fuel. Anyway this bloke wanted me to fill the fuel tank because he didn't have a can so I did this. He then tipped the mower on its side and I quickly grabbed it and put it back on its wheels and told him not to do that. He then went on to tell me it was a 2 stroke mower not a 4 stroke. I told him 3 times it was a 4 stroke before he explained to me that it only had 2 blades so therefore it was a 2 stroke, 4 strokes have 4 blades. Thinking about it later I should have given him his $50 back

I'm guessing non English speaking background. Australians aren't that daft.
Do you Grub-tree them or is it word of mouth around your neighbourhood?

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Sub Continent somewhere I guess and they all turn up wearing thongs. Bit of both, grubtree and word of mouth but this cost neutral "hobby" is starting to wear me down at the moment, getting to be like work

Not in my experience.
I have met many Australians - born here or overseas - and most 'get it'.
Others just require education and product information.
Most are keen to learn.

I have met many daft Australian-born 'true' Aussies.

I suppose you can't generalise (even though I often do anyway), but you do notice certain "patterns" and stereotypes in our societies.

It wouldn't have been an issue but he wanted to argue the fact that it was a 2 stroke because it had 2 blades. There was an old Aussie bloke (about my age) standing there as well who wanted a couple of old Victas looked at and he couldn't believe what was going on. After the bloke left he was just shaking his head.

He was taking the term two stroke too literally!! He needs a crash course on how they work. Doesn't sound like he wants to learn though.

He was also getting under my skin a bit when he wanted a receipt for a $50 mower in case he had warranty issues with it

He doesn't sound worth dealing with. He failed the test when he wanted to argue the finer points on what makes a two stroke or a four with someone who fixes them.

That's unreal! lol

The main issue I have is trying to explain why a customer's cheap Chinese ride on mower just will not cut like their old Greenfield etc. Same with the push mowers banghead
